Compositional Trick #2: Leading Lines

A leading line can be almost anything: a road, river, sidewalk, fence, tree line or shadow. Lines in a picture should lead into, not out of, the picture, and they should lead your eye toward the main subject. In this photo I had many leading lines. The long, wide cement-like surface leads you directly to the emphasis which was the whole purpose, it being the main leading line. Other leading lines would be, the lower cement-like surface to right of the emphasis, the curved shadow to the top left corner, the horizontal pole in the middle, and finally the curved line on the ground by the letter C.

I like this picture, especially the downward angle.
